You must estimate the mean temperature (in degrees Fahrenheit) with the following sample

1) Using Minitab, determine the 90% confidence interval. Copy and paste the Minitab printout

Minitab Instructions:

1. 1) Copy the data from the above table and paste into the first column C1 of your Minitab sheet.
2. 2) Label C1 as Temperature.
3. 3) Then click on Stat > Basic Statistics < 1-sample t
4. 4) You should see a box that reads “one or more samples, each in a column.” Below thisbox, click the empty box below so that C1 Temperature pops up. Double click on C1.
5. 5) Click the Options button.
6. 6) For confidence level, type in 90.0.
7. 7) Alternative Hypothesis should be on “Mean ≠ Hypothesized Mean”
8. 8) Click OK then click OK again so that you get the Minitab printout.

2) Write a confidence statement that interprets the interval you found using Minitab.

3) Can we say with 90% confidence that the mean temperature will be at least 40 degrees? Why or why not?

4) Can we say with 90% confidence that the mean temperature will be at most 60 degrees? Why or why not?

The claim is that adults watch more than 3 hours of TV each day. As the researcher, conduct a hypothesis test at the 0.05 significance level to determine if we should reject or fail to reject our null hypothesis.

Minitab Instructions:

1. 1) Copy the data from the above table and paste into the first column C1 of your Minitab sheet.
2. 2) Label C1 as Hours of TV.
3. 3) Then click on Stat > Basic Statistics < 1-sample t
4. 4) You should see a box that reads “one or more samples, each in a column.” Below thisbox, click the empty box below so that C1 Temperature pops up. Double click on C1.
5. 5) Click on the “Perform Hypothesis Test” option.
6. 6) Enter “3” into the Hypothesized mean box.
7. 7) Click on Options to verify that your confidence level is at 95.0.
8. 8) For the Alternative Hypothesis box, select the option that accurately reflects the claim.
9. 9) Click OK then click OK again so that you get the Minitab printout.

2) State your decision and how you reached that decision. 3) State your conclusion.

4) Determine whether you could have made a Type I or a Type II error. Give a reason for your answer.
